Waldgasthof & Rennsteighotel "Hubertushaus"
Waldgasthof & Rennsteighotel "Hubertushaus"
The Waldgasthof is located directly on the most famous high-altitude hiking trail in the Thuringian Forest - the Rennsteig - and the legendary Pummpälzweg. Surrounded by beautiful nature and far away from the noise of everyday life, you will find peace, relaxation and recreation here.
The Hubertushaus was built at the end of the last century as a small forester's lodge. In the 1920s, a small refreshment hall was built just 100 meters away from the Hubertushaus. This lasted until the end of the Second World War and the building was dilapidated. At the beginning of the 1950s, the refreshment hall was integrated into the hunting lodge and gradually extended.
It was very popular with hikers and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages as a place for celebrations or excursions. Due to problems with the water supply, the Hubertushaus soon had to close. Disreputable citizens demolished the empty building so that it was torn down in the early/mid-1960s.
The Hubertushaus was rebuilt in 1999.
The doors of the Waldgasthof have been open again since March 1, 2009. The reopening of the "Hubertushaus" on Ascherbrück has delighted both Ruhla residents and hikers on the Rennsteig trail. The Hubertushaus is now run by the Ullmann family. They want to spoil their guests in the cozy restaurant - daily from 10:00 to 22:00. Comfortable overnight accommodation is available for weary hikers, as well as good regional cuisine.
