Walhalla Altenberg Bad Kissingen
Walhalla Altenberg Bad Kissingen
This garden temple was built as part of the redesign of the park on the Altenberg in 1849 and was designed according to the Greek temple type Prostylos with an open cella.
According to the inscription on the front, the name Walhalla refers to the former Celtic refuge: "The old castle was destroyed here, the refuge of the Germanic tribes. Now 'Valhalla' belongs to the heroes, the resting place of our ancestors".
