The national park community of Weberstedt is directly tangent to the eastern side of the Hainich and is therefore the closest community to the national park. It was first mentioned in a document in 814, but the area around Weberstedt was settled 3000-4000 years before the Common Era. The village has 3 restaurants with very good home-style cooking, some vacation accommodation and a mini-golf course. In the summer months, Weberstedt's outdoor pool is a major attraction for visitors of all ages. It is not only the outward appearance with its clean streets, lovingly renovated half-timbered houses and well-kept green spaces that make Weberstedt a place with a high quality of life and living. There is a campsite on the outskirts of the village towards Hanich. One attraction is the play barn, an old barn which has been extensively renovated and converted into a play paradise. The village also has a hire barbecue area right next to the playground. The most historically valuable building in the village, besides the church "St. Ulrici", is the Goldacker Castle, which houses a dumpling hotel. The castle park with its valuable old trees is the starting point of the Weberstedt adventure trail, which leads into the national park and also connects to other hiking routes such as the Feenstieg.
