The street village (220 m above sea level, 112 inhabitants), located on the right bank of the Saale in a long, beautiful side valley, nestled in the forests of the heath, was first mentioned in a document in 1498. The village name is derived from the stream of the same name, which flows into the Saale near Weißen. The little Weißbach church, which is idyllically situated on the edge of the "Uhlstädter Heide" nature reserve, was built around 1834 using elements from the 18th century. A restaurant and guest rooms are available in the village.

Weißbach is also an ideal starting point for hikes. From here, you can hike the entire Hintere (Uhlstädter) and Vordere (Saalfelder) Heide. The extensive network of paths is well signposted and equipped with plenty of benches and shelters. The local history association Uhlstädt/Weißbach e.V., based in Weißbach, not only looks after the paths and benches, it also organizes an annual spring and autumn hike as well as the Weißbach funfair.
