Werleshausen is a district of Witzenhausen in the Werra-Meißner district of northern Hesse. The first documented mention was in 876 A.D. Werleshausen is part of the cherry-growing area around Witzenhausen. It is considered the largest closed cherry growing area in Europe.

The district with its historic half-timbered buildings in the town center and the former knight's estate with castle-like manor house is a good starting point for hikes and bike tours to the nearby Ludwigstein Castle, Hanstein Castle and the Devil's Pulpit near Lindewerra. The two-castle hike with a length of about 17 kilometers leads past all three sights.

Werleshausen is also a good starting point for water tourism activities such as canoe trips. In the village center, access to the Werra is possible and is suitable as a starting or ending point for a canoe tour on the former border river of the GDR.
