Duderstadt's unmistakable landmark is the Westerturm tower with its helically twisted spire. Once built as a town gate, the Westerturm with its ramparts and wall is part of the sophisticated medieval fortification system.

Inside the Westerturm tower is now a unique and exciting experience station. In particular, the topics of town defense in the Middle Ages and the Duderstadt shooting society are brought closer to visitors here in a modern, interactive way. Even the youngest visitors can try their hand at bird shooting or target shooting and listen to stories from times gone by from the talking stones in the town wall.
