Poacher Museum Gehlberg
Poacher Museum Gehlberg
Poaching was not a romantic pastime, but was associated with great effort and health problems. Up until the middle of the 20th century, poaching in Thuringia was mainly carried out because of hunger. Unlawful hunting was and is not a romantic pastime, but is still characterized by tragedy and crime to this day.
The museum provides information about the poachers' motives, camouflage, weapons and traps as well as poaching legends from the region. You can also find out about natural and wild poachers such as badgers, lynxes, foxes and hawks.
