A state-recognized resort with the OT Struth-Helmershof, Schnellbach, Floh, Seligenthal, Hohleborn and Kleinschmalkalden, which lies at the foot of the Rennsteig at 350-886 m. NN and has 6500 inhabitants.
Floh-Seligenthal is ideal for recreation seekers in summer and winter. The Rennsteig is at its most rustic here between Venetianerstein and Grenzadler. In winter, an Eldorado for cross-country skiers with an extensive network of groomed trails and ski trails.
Well-signposted hiking trails lead to the most beautiful viewpoints. The Mommelstein bike trail leads to the long-distance bike paths along the Rennsteig and Werra valleys.
Two outdoor swimming pools, bowling alley, trim trail, miniature golf course, tennis court and Nordic walking trails serve for active recreation. Clubs provide variety in leisure activities, such as carnival, fire department, sports, mountain lake or fair festivals. The gastronomy is known far beyond the borders of the village.
Sights include six churches, the mountain lake at the Ebertswiese, the Spitterfall and the largest cowbell in the world.
