Sonneberg winter sports area
Sonneberg winter sports area
"Santa's workshop" - was the name given to Sonneberg at the end of the 19th century. Wooden toys, dolls and toy animals made here were sold all over the world and found their way onto the gift tables of many children. Evidence of this history can be found in the famous German Toy Museum.
When winter conjures up a dream landscape of ice and snow with frosty temperatures, glistening powder snow and glorious sunshine, the conditions for winter sports enthusiasts in the district are perfect Neufang (altitudes between 600 and 700 m) to get their money's worth. The "Fränkischer Skiweg" ski trail and the Neufang winter hiking trail start and end at the hiking parking lot in Neufang. The "Franconian Ski Trail" connects to the trail network of the DSV nordic active center Hämmerer Ebene at the Hämmerer Ebene. The ski hiking trail and the winter hiking trail are not open for winter sports in the 2022/23 winter season due to timber removal transports.
In the city area of Sonneberg there is the possibility of using the Ice rink at the SonneBad.
