Winter sports area Steinheid
Winter sports area Steinheid
Snow-covered forests, mountains and valleys, glittering expanses - a winter sports enthusiast can hardly imagine anything more beautiful. A well-developed network of ski trails invites you to explore the landscape. The skiing area of the Rennsteig town Neuhaus am Rennweg also includes the former gold mining community, today's district Steinheid. Situated at an altitude of about 800 meters, Steinheid is one of the most snow-sure places in the Thuringian Forest. Cross-country skiers get their money's worth along the Rennsteig, but also in the direction of Stockwiese, Fellberg or Rauenstein. The toboggan slope at the Petersberg in the village of Steinheid/Limbach - very close to the Greiner crypt, which is definitely worth a visit - provides a lot of fun on snowy winter days. Thus the slope at the Petersberg is integrated into an extensive winter sports area. The parking lot, which is located there - also directly on the Rennsteig - is free of charge. Thus, guests have the possibility to reach the toboggan slope or the entrance to the ski and winter hiking trails in the shortest way. The Rennsteig portals to be found in Limbach are also a good starting point for hikes into the Thuringian winter world.
