Beuren
Beuren
The historic center of Beuren can be seen as a monument ensemble: In addition to the church dedicated to St. Pancras, the "Old Tower", formerly a customs and residential tower, dominates the picture. On the western edge of the village is the Cistercian monastery of Beuren, founded around 1200, which is the oldest monastery of this order in the Eichsfeld. South of Beuren, on a mountain spur, lies Scharfenstein Castle - a popular destination for excursions, both yesterday and today.
