Eckardtsleben
Eckardtsleben
The idyllically situated district is located approx. 6 km south of Bad Langensalza and has 201 inhabitants (as at 31.12.2019). The village was first mentioned in a document in 932 under the name "Eccardisleiben".
The church "St. Vitus" dates back to 1404 and is one of the oldest churches in Thuringia. Among other things, a burial site from the 10th/11th century can be viewed on a walk-in glass surface.
The surrounding area of Eckardtsleben is characterized by agriculture. The village has typical rural building structures. Multi-storey high-rise and new buildings are not to be found in the townscape. Instead, forests and meadows with the signposted circular hiking trail around Eckardtsleben (approx. 12 km), including the "Schwarzbachtal" nature trail, provide excellent hiking and recreational opportunities.
