The village of Asbach was first mentioned in documents in 1284. Sickenberg was initially a political community in its own right, which was first mentioned in 1298. The 700th anniversary of the village of Asbach-Sickenberg was celebrated in 1984. The village of Asbach lies on the south-western edge of the Eichsfeld, between the Rachelsberg and the Lindenberg in the valley of the Hainbach.
