St. George's Church
St. George's Church
St. Georgii was the only Gothic suburban church of the 14th century to be built as a two-nave building with a straight east end. Inside, the arcades to the north aisle, the late Gothic altar reredos with the crowning of the Virgin Mary and the harmoniously integrated two-storey organ loft from 1909 are particularly impressive. The area around St. Georgii near the Unstrut crossing marks the original settlement of "Mühlhausen", which took its name from the nearby Ottonian royal palace and later from the imperial city.
