Gieboldehausen

Gieboldehausen is a municipality in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony and belongs to the cultural landscape of Lowereichsfeld. Framed by small elevations and hills as well as fertile lowlands, the municipal area lies at the confluence of the Hahle and Rhume on the edge of the Golden mark. To the north and east runs the ridge of the Rotenbergsin the southeast, the foothills of the Hellberge. On the northern edge of the village lies the Nature reserve Rhumeaue, Ellerniederung, Schmalau and Thiershäuser Teiche.

Worth seeing in the village are the listed half-timbered houses and the Catholic church St. Laurentiuswhich, with its size and location on a hill, has a decisive influence on the appearance of the village. With its 42 m long and 14 m wide nave, it is one of the more imposing religious buildings in the Untereichsfeld region. A special feature is the groined vault inside. In addition to the Catholic church, the village also has the neo-Gothic-style Gustav Adolf Church. The church bells were cast from French cannons in 1873 and were a gift from Kaiser Wilhelm I. The former church tower offers a beautiful photo motif. Castle seat of the Lords of Minnigerode south of the town center. The representative building with half-timbered floors is located in a green area and is often referred to as a castle. To the west of Gieboldehausen, archaeological excavations on the Kleiner Lohberg have uncovered a group of 13 well-preserved Tumuli discovered. Comparison with similar burial mounds in the surrounding area enabled the burial mounds to be dated to the Bronze Age.

Under the motto "Enjoyable cycling", Gieboldehausen and the surrounding area invite you to explore. The wooded low mountain ranges as well as the gently rolling hills of the Goldene Mark region invite you to cycle at all levels of difficulty. For the most part, the gradients are fairly gentle to moderate and only some sections have gradients of more than 7%.
