Gierstädt is located just a few kilometers from the state capital of Erfurt and the royal seat of Gotha. It is the center of fruit growing in the Fahner Höhe with fruit processing facilities. Located on the north-eastern slope of the Fahnersche Höhe, the orchard of Thuringia.
