Gustav Adolf Chapel Witterda

Built over 100 years ago, the Protestant chapel in neo-Romanesque style has been a cultural monument since 1997. It can accommodate up to 70 people inside and around 150 people outside for weddings, christenings and other festivities. In the art and culture scene, the chapel and its grounds have long been firmly established as an event and exhibition venue for a diverse audience. Cyclists, hikers and nature lovers also like to take a break here.

With the help of the support association founded at the end of the 1990s and highly committed volunteers, the chapel was renovated, restored and ultimately preserved as a place of worship. The monthly Protestant and occasional ecumenical services are gratefully received.

The photovoltaic system installed on the roof as part of the restoration work reliably supports the power supply and its financing.
The chapel has also received a lot of publicity as an FFH conservation area and even has Natura 2000 relevance as a bat sanctuary.

Anyone interested in visiting this architectural gem is welcome at any time and is best to register in good time. Otherwise, it is worth taking a look at the display case in front of the chapel or on the local website, where you can always find dates for events such as the annual chapel festival, a vernissage or the Open Monument Day.
