Jewish cemetery
Jewish cemetery
The new Jewish cemetery was consecrated in 1872. Twelve valuable gravestones were moved here from the An der Burg burial ground, which had been occupied since medieval times. After the extermination during the Nazi dictatorship, no community was able to re-establish itself permanently in Mühlhausen. The Jewish cemetery was almost forgotten for a long time. It was only restored after the political change. Every November 9, the citizens of Mühlhausen gather here to commemorate the victims of the pogrom night.
