There is no written record of the century in which Kindelbrück was founded. As a result, Kindelbrück is one of the many German villages that have no concrete evidence of when they were founded, but can only be deduced hypothetically from the historical events of the time in our region. Around 1000, the bridge settlement "Kindelbruccun" developed into the stately farming village of Kindelbrück. In the first decades of the 13th century, the period of the granting of town rights began.

The Kindelbrück district comprises around 1,300 hectares of agricultural land. Kindelbrück is particularly famous for its fruit-growing area, one of the largest in Thuringia. The soil and climate in the Kindelbrück district are suitable for growing all demanding crops. The parcel of land known as "Die Weinberge" is a reminder of the cultivation of vines and "Waidgartenstraße" is a reminder of the cultivation of woad in the Kindelbrück district in the past.

Kindelbrück also has a lot to offer in other respects, for example: the town wall, which is one of the few town walls in Germany that is still almost completely preserved and is a listed building; the Gründelsloch, a karst spring that glows in dazzling colors; a war memorial and the town hall tower, which was built in 1589.
