Marble Museum Eisfeld
Marble Museum Eisfeld
The origins of the stone marble industry in the southern Thuringia-Upper Franconia region date back to the 17th century. The occurrence of multi-layered shell limestone was a suitable prerequisite for the production of marbles. However, the work involved was laborious and very low-paid.
An old Märbel mill has been preserved in Sachsenbrunn. Visitors can learn about the history of the mill and the production of Märbel and also see the other artistic works of the museum operators Moni Poppenmüller-Trümper and Axel Trümper. Prior registration is recommended.
Coffee and cake are waiting to be enjoyed in the museum's own parlor.
