The neo-Gothic parish church Mariä Geburt zu Lengenfeld unterm Stein was built between 1882 and 1884. Even today, the church calls people to prayer and invites them to linger. The Stations of the Cross by Lengenfeld church painter Joseph Richwien in particular attract many visitors to the parish every year.

As part of the Südeichsfeld Nativity Scene Trail, the parish church is decorated for Christmas every year.

The church was first mentioned in a document in 1337 when the first parish priest, Father Rudolph, was mentioned.
