It is the late 17th century residence of the von Hessler, Schulenburg and later Münchhausen families. The extensive grounds include the park, vineyards and a garden pavilion. Today's castle was built in the neo-Renaissance style. The village church, built in 1716, is located on the grounds and its tower contains bells dating back to 1573. In 2013 and 2014, the filming of the movie "Bibi and Tina" parts 1 and 2 took place at Vitzenburg Castle. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to visit the castle.
