The airfield of Fliegerclub Bad Berka e. V. is located northwest of Bad Berka, north of the Thuringian Forest in the thermal paradise of central Germany.

From 1962, air sports enthusiasts from Bad Berka, Weimar and the surrounding area practiced their demanding leisure sport here. In 1979, the Bad Berka gliding airfield, along with many other GST airfields, was closed for political reasons. It was not reopened until 1990.

Since then, the airfield in Bad Berka has been a popular destination for gliders from other regions of Germany and abroad for cross-country flights or flying camps. They all enjoy the beautiful landscape of Thuringia and the Middle Ilm Valley nature reserve from the air.

Simply take off

Let yourself be inspired by the breathtaking view of the spa town, its surroundings and the surrounding towns and villages on a sightseeing flight in a glider, motor glider or ultra-light aircraft. 

From April to October, it is possible to take a round trip in a glider. The motor glider and the ultra-light glider are even ready to fly all year round, as they can also fly in winter when the thermals are weak with the help of their own engine. Or take a proper training course to become a pilot. Make your personal dream of flying come true and learn how to steer, navigate, take off and land as well as ground handling of an aircraft with a flight instructor.
