The State vocational school for wood sculptors is the only woodcarving school in northern Bavaria and the oldest in Germany! 1852 founded in Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe), then still in Bavaria, it moved to Bischofsheim around ten years later. The training, which is taken up by students from all over Germany and in some cases even from abroad, lasts three years in theory and practice (full-time teaching) and has both a artistic as well as a craftsmanship Approach on. Viewing opportunities are offered by the Open day (usually in the middle/end of July; see the school's homepage for dates), at which the graduates' final projects are also presented, as well as the Open School Gallery.
