The beginnings of the museum go back to the region-specific collection of senior teacher Türks from 1910. It was not until 39 years later that the museum found its final home in the town's old office building, which was built in 1742 on the oldest settlement area in Camburg. One of the original prison cells from its use as an official building can still be viewed today. In a further 18 rooms, a wide variety of objects from the town and regional history are presented, from prehistory and early history to the present day. A lot of space is devoted to the tradition of Craftsmanship in Cambourg, many of which are considered almost extinct today. Particularly noteworthy are several workshops, which are presented with their complete inventory in the museum, such as a wainwright's workshop, cooper's workshop, shoemaker's workshop and bookbindery. The old Camburger "Germania Drogerie" with its impressive cabinets from the late 19th century and rich assortment of goods from the GDR era has also found its place in the museum today. Special exhibitions and cultural events such as readings, lectures and concerts are held regularly.
