The (former industrial water) Hohenleuben dam is located in the district of Greiz and is used for fish farming, local recreation and low water elevation.

The Leuba dam is located near the small town of Hohenleuben in the Leuba valley. It dams up the small course of the Leuba river between the town of Hohenleuben and the present-day Langenwetzendorf districts of Hain and Lunzig (including Kauern) and is considered one of the best-known insider tips in the area. This scenic gem is a popular excursion destination for nature lovers and hikers. Hikes in the catchment area of the dam are particularly attractive and can be easily combined with a hike through the Bärengraben stream valley to the forest pond or the forest pool.

The Hohenleuben dam is not an official bathing water. Fishing, except boat fishing, is permitted. You can also hire rowing boats or book a raft from Hain during the season. A section of the 110-kilometre-long Reußische Fürstenstraße, which runs right through the Thuringian Vogtland, is located very close to the Hohenleuben dam.
