Waldau
Waldau
Waldau - part of the town of Schleusingen - has around 900 inhabitants and was first mentioned in a document in 1299.
The village lies around 410 m above sea level in the south of the Thuringian Forest Nature Park, approx. 10 km from the Rennsteig. Waldau lies in a wide floodplain where the valleys of the Biber, Ansbach and Schleuse rivers meet. The recreational value is guaranteed by the climatic conditions, the healthy mountain air and the wonderful natural surroundings.
The village is one of the most beautiful in the Thuringian Forest.
Well-maintained hiking trails through valleys and over hills lead into the tranquillity of the forests, into nature rich in flowers and animals and along bubbling streams.
A special sight in Waldau is the church built in 1624.
