Wintzingerode
Wintzingerode
The village of Wintzingerode was first mentioned in a document in 1204. The progenitors of the later counts and barons of Wintzingerode had their residence here. Bodenstein Castle is located above the village. In the 16th century, the village and its lords adopted the Protestant faith. Wintzingerode is located on the Bodenstein top hiking trail, which also leads past the crypt of the von Wintzingerode family in the forest. The Katharinenquelle spring is also worth a visit.
